While Idaho, Oregon, Colorado, California, and Arizona are known places for gold tellurides; Utah and Nevada have there share of little known places also.
There was much gold tellurides found in the Tintic Mountains of Utah. Namely the Mamouth Mine site of old time fame. It was claimed that up in the Granddaddy
Lake region that Calab and his partner found Sylvanite ore. What treasures still lie hidden in Utah in gold tellurides which appearance would not be
recognized by many people?...

Manganese comes in other forms than Wad. Manganese is usually black but it can also be a light pinkish red. In Quartz, it can be a light pink color. Crush
and pan it will show nothing. But roast it in with a torch and the gold will form into beads, if the sample contains gold. The Butterfeild Mine (closed and
the area restored) in Butterfeild Canyon, Utah, had ore of manganese of the pink variety. Some of the ore showed native gold in the pinkish rock. There are
many outcrops of this...

Headed down to southern Utah last weekend and went out poking in the hills. Went to a new area this time, just to see what I could find. Found an area with lots of clear and white layered rocks, I guess it's the chalcedony again? It looked like a lot of it wanted to turn into geodes. Also found plenty of brilliant yellow and red jasper in the area too. Here's some pics.

Here's some of the transparent/whitish rock that was bubbly looking (Is this how geodes form?)
<!--EZCODE...

My brother Mike and I (while hiking) found a nice big hunk of rock that had fallen from another source up high. the rock stood out as different from anything else in the area, and we broke off some nicer pieces to bring back. Haven't found the main source, but always searching. We had a geologist check it out and his gold probe went bizerk...and this is the only rock that I have found that sets my detector crazy as well. Thought I'd post a few pics of it to see what any other suggestions...
