Where two different types of rock come together at the surface, this is called a contact zone. It may also be from the result of a fault where the rocks
slipped up and down or back and forth. This can also produce an avenue or fissure where minerals could be deposited from hydrothermal waters or other means.
They are everywhere and sometimes you can find where another zone of minerals has formed between these two larger deposits of rock. Whenever I come across
these contacts, if possible,...

A interesting item which may help you is that all profitable mines had their own assayer. The old mining town sites had a camp assayer which small prospects
or prospector's would take their rock samples for assaying. These rocks left behind with the slag piles there are not helpful in that you won't know
from where the rock came from for sure. In these camp assayer offices, they discarded the slag and the left over rock. The bone ash cupels also were not
reuseable. They were used...

Was just looking on the internet for field test for gold, kind of a geochemical loaming quick test for prospecting, when I found a test kit from, gold hunters, in ID. It sounded great and an easy way to test fast, one to four hours. Then have a idea if an ore was worth assaying more. Has anyone tried this, or is there a quick chemical test other than this?

Does anyone know where the best place to look for the ore types that were taken out of the park city mines? I believe like a lot of mines, it was getting richer as they went deeper, however they were stopped when the water table became to hard to keep the water out of the shafts. Pumps just couldn't keep up. I am interested in how the ores changed, if at all, and what kinds there were. What types of lime stones were they in?
