I would like to see a thing started on Utah's West Desert. With all of the old mines and ghost towns there should be lots to tell. Photos of the mines and old towns. I love going out that way but due to the lack of funds it is only once in about every 3-4 months that I can make it.

Info for those of us that got dropped on our heads when we were young

How do you guys take statements out of someone elses print/post and bring it down to your post for comment? I see it boxed in usually and maybe even shaded in another color. If I cut and paste it doesn't look like that

I was hiking up above mapleton today and found this. it looks like the door to an old oven, my first thought would be a smelter, but i dont want to jump to any conclusions. there were a bunch of rocks in the area and it was flat, a few metal bands on the ground that look like a rim to old wooden wheels or something that would hold a barrel together. any ideas of what this is, or how old it is. there is a design of a sort of star in the middle and it appears to fold down. didnt find the other...

About an hour ago I was talking to three men from Nephi. They told me that "about two months ago, someone in Nephi dug up a strong box with $100,000.00 inside. They said that the most recent dates on the bills were 1941. Has anyone heard anything about this find?

Is this an old spanish mine? It's certainly not hard to get to, and has seen it's share of teenager parties and bonfires. I spotted what I believed was a mine on the side of the mountain, and decided to hike to it one day. On the hike up, I came across a large smelter made out of mud and stone. The mine is a steep hike above that. You can go in the mine a little ways before it's caved in. Just curious if this has a name, or if it's even an old mine at all....

Hi all. New guy that's had some interest in the lost Rhoades mines for a few years after reading many of the popular books. Never got serious enough to go search for anything. A family member of mine overheard me talking with another family member, and gave me an old document he had been given back in the '80s. It appears to be a partnership agreement/offering from Gale Rhoades. It goes into some detail about locations of seven different mines. Interesting, but I'm not sure if...

Two day seminar at Zermott Resort in Midway

We just finished the two day seminar at the Zermott Resort in Midway. There were 27 speakers. A lot of good information on ancient inhabitants of the United States. Did anyone else out there attend the seminar? I was told that there was room for 600 people and it was sold out (I don't think that there was 600 myself but there was quite a few)

Resurecting the Lost Woolsey Mine

Went up this last weekend to search for the mine that George Thompson stated in his book "Faded Footprints" was most likely to be real. Found some really interesting spots where the geology seemed to be checking out and all that but no mine. Found all sorts of writing on trees. Who was "W C"? Found writing on aspens for 1922, 1932 and latest, 1944. Checked with William Clark from Fruitland (who has hunted a lot up on "Bobby Duke" and in the Currant Creek...
